In Alibaba Cloud IoT Platform, a TSL is a digital representation of an entity (such as a sensor, an in-vehicle device, a building, or a factory) in a physical space in the cloud. It describes what the entity is, what it can do, and what information it can provide to the outside world in terms of attributes, services, and events.
Specifically, the attribute dimension of the object model describes the properties and characteristics of the entity (the object-connected device), such as the temperature, humidity and pressure of the sensor; the service dimension describes the operations and functions that the entity can provide, such as control switches, actuators, etc.; the event dimension describes the events and behaviors triggered by the entity under specific conditions, such as triggering an alarm when the sensor detects an abnormal temperature.
By defining these three dimensions of the object model, the definition of the product function can be completed. In the Internet of Things platform, you can define multiple sets of functions (attributes, services, and events) for a product. A set of function definitions is an object model module. Multiple object model modules do not affect each other, which can solve complex device modeling in industrial scenarios and facilitate the development of devices with different functions under the same product. For example, the functional attributes of electric heating fan products include power switch, gear (high, medium and low) and indoor temperature. The first two attributes can be added to one module and three attributes can be added to another module, and then the functions of different object model modules can be developed at different equipment ends respectively. At this time, different devices under the product can achieve different functions.
The Thing Model communication format is usually J SON. In the IoT platform, the TSI communication format refers to the data format used to transmit data between devices and platforms and between platforms. JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) is a lightweight data exchange format that is easy for humans to read and write, and easy for machines to parse and generate. In the object model communication, the use of the JSON format can easily describe the properties, services and events of the device, making the communication between the device and the platform more convenient and efficient.
In the object model communication, the J SON format usually contains the following:
Device information: including the ID, type, version number and other basic information of the device;
Attribute information: describes the attributes of the device, including attribute name, attribute type, attribute value, etc;
Service information: describes the services that the device can provide, including the ID, type, and parameters of the service;
Event information: describes the events triggered by the device under specific conditions, including event types and parameters.
The above information is expressed in the form of key-value pairs in J SON, which identifies the category of information by key and stores specific information by value.
In the Internet of Things platform, the use of the J SON format for object model communication can make the communication between different platforms and different devices more standardized and standardized, which is conducive to the realization of device interconnection and data sharing.
To put it simply, the object model is the Putonghua or English used for communication between Internet of Things terminal devices, Internet of Things applications and related platforms, which standardizes the format of data flow between Internet of Things terminals and platform applications and makes their communication smooth and unimpeded.
